Keep on Trekkin’ With the Underwater Treadmill

Treadmills: The Foolproof Way to Burn Calories and Lose Fat

One of today’s most popular piece of exercise equipment is the treadmill, and there are many reasons why. For starters, you are able to control the conditions you are in, whether you decide to climb a hill or keep a flat terrain, you can easily adjust the incline, as you avoid potholes and other nuisances in the streets. Another reason there are so many treadmill fanatics is because it’s a foolproof way to burn calories and lose fat without impacting the joints so heavily. Whether you decide to walk, jog, or sprint, your body will be shredding fat as the heart rate goes up and you begin engaging the muscles all the way from the legs to the arms.

So what could make a treadmill even more efficient? Placing it underwater.

Professional Aqua Treadmill

Improving the Treadmill Workout by Adding Water

At Aqua Wellness World we feature the Aqua Trekker Pro, essentially an underwater treadmill. With its’ streamlined look it can be used for group classes, individual workouts, and even circuit training. However, the trekker is bit different than your typical treadmill; its’ incline is maintained at 13 degrees for optimal use. Also, if you’re familiar with typical treadmills, the Aqua Trekker works as if you are using a treadmill on “Dynamic Mode,” meaning the belt is not moving automatically. You have to physically push your own body weight in order to move the belt- it is a self propelled movement (picture pushing a sled).

The Aqua Trekker is Your New Workout Buddy

As you do this you are continuously engaging the abdominal muscles, along with the deltoids, the glutes, the hamstrings, the quadriceps, the lower back muscles, and the calves, truly qualifying as total body workout.

Not only can you do traditional walking, jogging, or running, on the Aqua Trekker, but it also allows you to incorporate a multitude of exercises from walking backwards, to jumping, and to using one leg at a time. You can also use the trekker for mainly upper body and ab exercises with the help of the sturdy, non-slip handlebar. The variations are endless.

One advantage that you will see on the Aqua Trekker that you surely will never find on a standard treadmill is the reduction in cellulite appearance. Like any underwater exercise, the hydrostatic pressure and motion in the water creates a unique massage throughout the body, improving blood circulation and draining the lymphatic system. This  process facilitates elimination of cellulite and overall wellness inside and out.

Make sure to check out this awesome video of all the different exercises in motion!
